The Office of Hawaiian Education (OHE) in partnership with Leeward Oʻahu schools and Community and the Native Hawaiian Education council invite you to join us for the first annual Nā Hopena Aʻo (HĀ) Summit.

The HĀ Summit will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Waiʻanae High School (85-251 Farrington Highway, Waianae, HI 96792). Registration and breakfast at 7:15 – 8:00 a.m.; Pau ka hālāwai at 3:30 p.m.

The HĀ Summit is open to education stakeholders who are committed to strengthening BREATH. It will provide an opportunity to EXPERIENCE HĀ, build a COLLECTIVE understanding of the framework, SHARE knowledge and resources to support effective use, and CONNECT to a network of practitioners. The morning will begin with opening protocol followed by OHE setting the context for the summit and the work to date. Attendees will then participate in one of 10 huakaʻi (trips) hosted by schools and community organizations rooted in the area. The afternoon will be an opportunity to learn from our HĀ Community Day design teams from across the state, reflect on where we experienced HĀ, and discuss and plan for ways to collectively build and strengthen the HĀ movement in our local contexts.

To be ready to fully participate in the HĀ Summit or to learn more about HĀ, please review the HĀ website and read the HĀ Statements Document and Moʻolelo of HĀ.

Registration for the summit will close on April 28, 2017. Neighbor Island travel option closes on April 21, 2017 to provide time to make flight arrangements.
